Rydges Hotels and Resorts are delighted to welcome new general managers to their hotels. Atura Wellington has offered Mason Hannan the role of General Manager, replacing Craig Wood, who has moved on to the General Manager position at Rydges Latimer Christchurch.
After two years at Atura Wellington, Wood is heading south, bringing his extensive background in Food and Beverage to Rydges’ Bloody Mary Restaurant. With over 15 years of experience within the industry, Wood is looking forward to taking the lead.
“I’m incredibly excited to be stepping into the General Manager role at Rydges Latimer,” he explained. “I was born and bred in Christchurch and started my hotel career in the city, so this new challenge feels like it has come full circle.”
General Manager of Hotel Operations in New Zealand for EVENT, Simon White, expressed his excitement in welcoming Wood.
“Craig is a progressive leader with a great understanding of hospitality, and we are looking forward to the froth of Rydges Latimer under his guidance.”
New to the EVT family, Hannan joins Atura Wellington following nine years of experience in the hotel industry. Beginning his career at the Dragonfly Restaurant and Bars, Hannan has worked in Wellington, Rotorua, and Auckland across the country.
“I love the ever-changing nature of the hotel industry, which allows me to find ways to progress and develop continuously,” Hannan said. “I am looking forward to working with the talented Atura team who deliver a fantastic accommodation and F&B offering to the Thorndon area.”
White emphasised that Atura Wellington is left in good hands with the appointment of Hannan, claiming him to be a “rising star in the hotel industry.”
