Hotel Milo is a pet-friendly hotel in the heart of Santa Barbara, making it an ideal destination for travelers celebrating National Dog Day. Returning on August 26th this day of appreciation for canines, and for raising awareness around adoption and rescue was founded by renowned author, trainer, and conservationist Colleen Paige.

Walk Along West Beach & Stearns Wharf

Right across the street from Hotel Milo, West Beach offers a gorgeous view of the water and an easy outdoor hangout to enjoy with your pet. . After taking in the ocean views, head over to the world-famous Stearns Wharf. Taking your dog further along Cabrillo Boulevard, you can get a taste of the city and catch the occasional event like a pop-up art market. 

Head to a Dog-Friendly Beach

There are a number of dog-friendly beaches in and around Santa Barbara where you can head for some swimming, hiking, chilling, picnicking, and hanging. Some of the more popular ones include Arroyo Burro Beach and Carpinteria State Beach. Santa Barbara is never short on sunshine, fresh air, and great beach days. 

Head For A Hike

Santa Barbara has loads of gorgeous trails that will give both you and your dog a killer workout. In fact, a number of these trails are along the world-famous PCH. While you’re in town, consider taking your dog to Romero Canyon’s shady creek beds, or Gaviota Peak for amazing views of the local surroundings. Just make sure to bring water and stay safe! 

Eat at a Dog-Friendly Restaurant

Santa Barbara has a great selection of dog-friendly restaurants. You can bring your pooch to the outside tables at Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach, a fantastic seaside seafood spot with delicious local catches. You can also bring your furry friend to The Brew House, Scarlett Begonia, and Breakwater Restaurant among others.
