Thousands of flights canceled as busy summer travel season heats up

Airlines are scrambling to get well right after cancelling more than 2,800 flights since Thursday as extreme climate pushed by way of the Northeast.

Airline executives met with Section of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Thursday to go over how to avoid common cancellations and delays ahead of the July 4 getaway.

Buttigieg pressed airlines above their potential to reliably work holiday flight schedules and requested them to improve buyer expertise, a resource familiar with the meeting explained to ABC Information.

The secretary also explained the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would continue to hold air site visitors easy and on routine following criticism from some sector groups that FAA floor stops and delays induced by climate and staffing issues resulted in lots of delays about Memorial Working day Weekend.

The FAA suggests it is operating to seek the services of a lot more air website traffic controllers for its services as it has had to lessen air site visitors in some of the busiest airspace because of day by day staffing shortages.
