MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. requested a halt to overseas travels in the Office of Overseas Affairs (DFA) as it bared the depletion of a revolving fund for the printing of passports.
Locsin explained the DFA already owed the point out-owned Apo Production Unit some P388 million for the printing of passport booklets since the fund was eaten up by journey allowances, insurance policy and other bills.
Under the Philippine Passport Act of 1996, the DFA might cost a services charge of not additional than P250 for the processing and issuance of passports requiring special thought, waiver or issuance over and above typical office environment hours. —TINA G. SANTOS
