Earning Clovis a desired destination location for countrywide scale rodeo motion obtained the awareness of Clovis town and Curry County commissioners and administrators at the yearly city/county luncheon on Monday.
The subject matter came up as Curry County Events Heart General Supervisor K.C. Messick spoke to the team about programs to tear down the current animal barns at the fairgrounds and create a $10 million livestock pavilion.
“This would be a match changer,” Messick reported.
It is believed a new, modern-day pavilion will bring in far more important equestrian events and a broad assortment of “money building occasions.”
Messick spoke of shedding organization to other towns due to the fact the Curry County facility doesn’t meet predicted criteria.
Dusty Leatherwood, who gained the Republican Curry County Commission District 3 race in the June 7 principal, spoke of Curry County getting rid of party business to Levelland, Texas.
Leatherwood advocated for the city of Clovis and Curry County to “get together” and get guiding the rodeo so additional money would occur into the location.
Leatherwood pointed out that Clovis is the only put for rodeo folks to quit involving Phoenix and Oklahoma City or between Denver and Fort Well worth.
“They do not want to prevent in Albuquerque,” Leatherwood claimed. “They’ll eliminate half their stuff,” a reference to that city’s superior crime level.
